After first focusing on building the depth at quarterback, the BC Lions made a strong move on defense, bringing in an All-Star defensive back. The team announced on Valentine’s Day they had signed former Montreal Alouettes defensive back Ciante Evans on a one-year deal.
Evans spent last year with the Als, where he put up 25 tackles and three interceptions in 11 games and helped the team win a Grey Cup. He also played for Montreal in 2019.
Additionally, Evans spent time with the Calgary Stampeders (2015-2018) and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2021-2022). His career stats include 248 tackles, 17 interceptions and three forced fumbles. He was named a CFL All-Star in 2017 and a CFL West All-Star in 2017 and 2018, also earning Grey Cup titles last season with Montreal and in 2018 with Calgary.
