Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu was asked to pick his all-time best Nerazzurri five-a-side team, and he opted for some interesting choices.

The 30-year-old mainly chose treble winners from the glorious 2009/10 campaign.

He began with former Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar who offered a ferocious presence between the posts.

The playmaker had a host of options to choose from in defense, but he opted for Lucio. The former Bayern Munich star joined the Nerazzurri in 2009 and became an instant hit at San Siro. He formed a formidable partnership with Walter Samuel.

“I choose Julio Cesar in goal and Lucio in defense,” said Calhanoglu in his interview with Copa 90 via FcInterNews.

The former AC Milan star then named 2006 FIFA World Cup hero Marco Materazzi as the other defender.

“Only one defender? Well, if we can add a second, I say Materazzi.”

Remaining with treble winners, Calhanoglu picked Dejan Stankovic and Wesley Sneijder in the middle of the park. He also chose Samuel Eto’o as the lone striker.

“I choose Snejinder, Stankovic. and finally, Eto’o in attack”.

The interviewer then asked the Turk why he opted to leave out the Brazilian duo of Ronaldo and Adriano.

Therefore, Hakan reconsidered his choices, and decided to adopt a more attacking lineup to include “Il Fenomeno”.

“Yes, I know. R9 is great, but you only gave me five slots. I always put Ronaldo in, but then I’ll have to play with two strikers.

“So let’s say I place Ronaldo alongside Eto’o. Then Sneijder, Materazzi and Julio Cesar.”

Calhanoglu joined Inter in the summer of 2021 as a free agent after seeing out his contract with AC Milan.
