Simone Inzaghi wasn’t hiding the fact that Inter Milan need to strengthen their squad for next season with comments yesterday.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note the Inter coach’s pointed words.

Speaking to the press after yesterday’s Serie A loss against Sassuolo, Inter coach Inzaghi was asked about the club’s plans for the summer.

And whilst the 48-year-old did not go into too much detail, he emphasized a key theme.

Inzaghi talked openly about the fact that Inter need to strengthen. Particularly in terms of the depth of the squad.

The coach’s remarks revolved around the fact that Inter will be in the Club World Cup next season – along with the extra matches that will come with the new Champions League format.

Simone Inzaghi Not Hiding Inter Need To Strengthen Squad

There was nothing veiled or diplomatic about Inzaghi’s words.

The coach even referenced the fact that Inter have already made a couple of signings.

Inzaghi was referring to Mehdi Taremi and Piotr ZIelinski. Both will arrive at Inter on free transfers in a couple months, from Porto and Napoli respectively.

But Inzaghi also indicated that those signings won’t be enough.

The coach stressed that Inter are also looking at other possible targets for the summer.

Yesterday’s loss to Sassuolo was perhaps a wake-up call for the fact that Inter aren’t as far away from a drop-off as their rampant form in Serie A this season would suggest.

Therefore, the club are ready to move in the summer.

It may not be a window like last summer – when twelve players left and twelve new signings came in. But Inter will have work to do.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi’s words about strikers Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez were diplomatic.

The Inter coach said that he’d be happy to have both around next season, with their contributions this campaign “important.”

But for the Gazzetta, there was little hiding the truth. Inzaghi will want better attacking options next season.
